Ticks / Mosquitoes

One of the benefits of living in New England is the pleasant weather during spring and summer. Backyard games, swimming, and cookouts are just  a few of the activities we enjoy as the temperature climbs. Unfortunately, there are uninvited guests waiting to put a damper on outdoor fun.

Ticks and mosquitoes are not only a nuisance, but can transmit a variety of illnesses. .Lyme disease, West Nile virus, and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) are just a few of the  diseases spread by these insects. Personal protection such as insect repellent and appropriate clothing is the first line of defense , while eliminating  harborage and breeding sites for ticks and mosquitoes are  important environmental factors.

A successful control program begins with an evaluation of your property. We will identify conditions that are conducive to tick and mosquito populations, and recommend steps to reduce them. The frequency of applications is determined by your specific  surroundings, such as swampy areas, vernal pools, and heavy undergrowth. In many instances, tick and mosquito treatments are combined due to overlapping environments.

The correct choice of materials and equipment are critical. Liquid materials with long residual effect are applied under pressure to harborage and breeding areas. This method provides penetration under leaf litter where ticks hide, and insures coverage of foliage to contact mosquitoes.
